With this new edition of The Corner, GNRC reaches a moment that feels like a milestone and a threshold. A door opens. Through it we can look back with gratitude and forward with quiet trust. Something is concluded. Everything continues.

Madrid and Rome: where community becomes visible

We begin with the Madrid Assembly, the largest gathering in the history of GNRC. More than a hundred participants from all our regions met for days of listening, reflection, shared meals, and prayer.
The presence of María Luisa Berzosa, Christina Inogés, James Alison and Renato Lings enriched the conversations with depth and honesty. It was a reminder that hope grows where people meet with sincerity.

From Madrid, the path led naturally to Rome. Thanks to the invitation of La Tenda di Gionata, GNRC joined the first Jubilee Pilgrimage of Hope for LGBT+ faithful. Over 1,400 pilgrims walked under the September sun, crossed the Holy Door, prayed together, and rediscovered what it means to be welcomed.
The Pilgrims’ Rest hosted by GNRC at St Paul within the Walls became a living image of communion: volunteers, parents, priests, young people, couples, and pastoral workers sitting at the same tables, sharing stories and presence.

A Church opening its doors: the Synodal Pathway

This edition also includes a concise and accessible summary of the Italian Synodal Pathway. After four years of listening across the entire country, five pastoral proposals concerning LGBT+ people were approved with notably high levels of consensus, some reaching 95 percent.
It is not a final destination, but it is a real step forward. Opening doors requires time, listening, and care. The invitation is clear: continue engaging locally, meeting priests and communities with patience and competence.

VESO: from Rome’s open door to every community

From the Jubilee to local realities, the Vigils for the Overcoming of Homotransbiphobia remain a central expression of faith, solidarity, and public witness. They invite parishes, groups, and families to stand together in prayer and hope, affirming that every life is beloved.

Personal stories that widen the space

As always, The Corner offers space for individual voices.
In this issue we meet Eros, a theology student from Shanghai, and Bishop Antonio Ocharo, who describes the difficult and often dangerous situation faced by LGBT+ communities in Kenya. Two different worlds, held together by a common search for dignity, freedom, and faith.

A door that opens toward commitment

GNRC continues its daily work without structural funding, carrying forward projects that require continuity and responsibility: the Accompaniment Project, our contribution to the Synodal Process, equality and diversity work, youth engagement, and our communication efforts.
For this reason, the edition closes with an invitation to support what is growing and what still needs to grow.

The door is open.
The journey continues.
And it continues together.
