“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)
We mourn many things: rejection, injustice, violence against LGBTIQ persons, silence in places that should speak. Yet Jesus calls this mourning “blessed.” He sees dignity even in our grief. Our advocacy flows from this space: we mourn, but we also act, so that comfort and justice might become flesh among us. May we keep faith that mourning can birth compassion strong enough to change the world.
