Las semillas de la 4a asamblea de la GNRC en México. (scroll down for the English version)
Mirar desde la esperanza fue la primer semilla que se sembró en mi desde aquel septiembre del 2022, fecha en que se llevó a cabo en la ciudad de México la cuarta asamblea de la Red Global de católicos Arcoíris, en la cual participé como organizador, recuerdo que parte de actividades que me fueron asignadas fue el contactar a los participantes para organizar su llegada al país, recogerlos en el aeropuerto y llevarlos a los lugares donde nos hospedamos, así fue como comencé a interactuar con personas de casi todo el mundo, ellos comenzaron a compartirme su alegría, fe y esperanza, ver aquellos rostros sonrientes y estrechar sus cálidas manos fue un buen inicio de la jornada, algunos de los participantes ya los conocía a través de redes sociales o de encuentros online, pero la gran mayoría eran personas nuevas para mi.
Iba conociendo sus historias de vida mientras recorríamos los canales de Xochimilco o caminábamos por las calles de Coyoacán, poco a poco se iban integrando más personas, la emoción crecía y las semillas de la amistad se iban esparciendo, al siguiente día iniciamos con la oración, juntas de trabajo, talleres, momentos de compartir el pan, no solo el físico si no el de vida también, pues hasta una celebración por países hubo, y así transcurrieron los tres primeros días de la asamblea, en los cuales la presencia de Dios se podría experimentar en cada oración, momento de convivencia o bien al escuchar atentamente al hermano, descubrí que no iba caminando solo en la pastoral de la diversidad sexual, si no que me encontrada acompañado de más hermanos, hermanas, hermanes que buscar ser testimonios en sus comunidades y países.
Dos de los momentos más emotivos para mi fue la peregrinación y misa hacia la basílica de Guadalupe, recuerdo cuando hice la gestión para llevarla a cabo y tuve que mencionar que era para peregrinos LGBT de distintas partes del mundo y la respuesta fue: “adelante, bienvenidos”, todos estábamos emocionados por visitar a la morenita – Virgen de Guadalupe, primero la visitamos bajo su regazo y después participamos de la misa, me sentí fortalecido en mi fe, otro momento que recuerdo con cariño fue la fiesta mexicana, en donde nuestros invitados degustaron platillos mexicanos, bailaron, cantaron y disfrutaron, sin duda un momento que me marcó y aún recuerdo con cariño fue cuando el jesuita Luis Correa presentó su libro “Teología LGBT” y nos contó el origen del libro y de su apostolado de acompañamiento hacia la comunidad de diversidad sexual, un nudo se me hace en la garganta al recordar sus palabras.
Las semillas de la amistad durante estos siete días de convivencia se fueron esparciendo y hoy en día puedo decir que ha florecido la amistad con personas increíbles en distintas partes del mundo, mi compromiso hacia la pastoral de la diversidad sexual también ha ido madurando y hoy apoyo a la construcción el reino desde el equipo de Latino america y en el equipo directivo de la GNRC.
Estamos a dos meses de vivir la quinta asamblea en Madrid, la esperanza y compromiso siguen latentes, pero sobre todo mi respuesta hacia Dios de seguir colaborando en este apostolado arcoíris, ha habido momentos y/o situaciones que no han sido fáciles, pero Dios siempre me anima a seguir adelante y confirma mi llamado.
Por último quiero dar gracias a todos aquellos que han hecho posibles estas cinco asambleas, por que han sido de gran fruto para muchas personas, pero sobre todo han sembrado semillas en el corazón y la vida de la comunidad LGBT católica. Que Dios continúe iluminando nuestro camino, participación y servicio.

The seeds of the 4th GNRC assembly in Mexico.
Looking from a place of hope was the first seed planted in me since that September in 2022 were I was part of the organizing team for the Fourth GNRC Assembly held in Mexico City, in which I participated as an organizer. I recall as part of my duties the logistics of every international guest: picking them up at the airport, and taking them to the places where we were staying. This is how I began to interact with people from almost all over the world. They began to share their joy, faith, and hope with me. Seeing those smiling faces and shaking their warm hands was a good start to the day. I already knew some of the participants through social media or online meetings, but the vast majority were new to me.
I learned about their life stories as we toured the canals of Xochimilco or walked the streets of Coyoacán. Little by little, more people joined, the excitement grew, and the seeds of friendship began to spread. We welcomed every day with a morning prayer, followed by work meetings, workshops, moments of sharing bread—not just the physical bread, but also the life bread. There was even a celebration by country. And so, the first three days of the assembly went by the presence of God could be experienced in every prayer, moment of fellowship, or even by listening attentively to a brother. I discovered that I was not walking alone in the ministry of sexual diversity, but rather that I found myself accompanied by more brothers, sisters, and brothers who are willing to be witnesses in their communities and countries.
There were three very touching moments for me: First, the pilgrimage and Mass at the Basilica of Guadalupe. I remember when I made the arrangements to go on and had to mention that it was for LGBT pilgrims from around the world. The response was, “Come in, welcome.” We were all excited to visit the dark-skinned Virgin of Guadalupe. First, we visited her under her lap and then participated in the Mass. I felt strengthened in my faith. The second moment I cherish was the Mexican celebration, where our guests enjoyed Mexican dishes, danced, sang, and enjoyed themselves. Finally and without a doubt, a moment that left its mark on me and I still fondly remember was when Jesuit Luis Correa presented his book “LGBT Theology” and told us about the origin of the book and his apostolate of accompaniment to the sexually diverse community. I get a lump in my throat when I remember his words.
The seeds of friendship sowed during these seven days of living together and today I can say that friendship has blossomed with incredible people from different parts of the world. My commitment to the ministry of sexual diversity has also matured, and today I support the building of the kingdom through the Latin American team and the GNRC leadership team.
We are two months away from experiencing the fifth assembly in Madrid. Hope and commitment remain, but above all, my response to God is to continue collaborating in this rainbow apostolate. There have been moments and/or situations that have not been easy, but God always encourages me to continue and confirms my calling.
Finally, I want to thank all those who have made these five assemblies possible, because they have been of great fruit for many people, but above all, they have planted seeds in the hearts and lives of the Catholic LGBT community. May God continue to illuminate our path, participation, and service.
