VOLUNTEER

Around the world, many LGBT+ Catholics, parents, pastoral workers, religious sisters, priests, theologians, and allies are trying to build spaces of prayer, dialogue, support, and dignity within the life of the Church. Much of this work exists because volunteers choose to give time, skills, listening, translation, organization, creativity, care, and presence.

The Global Network of Rainbow Catholics connects groups and communities from many countries. Some volunteers help with communication, social media, graphics, translations, events, Zoom hosting, pastoral outreach, safeguarding, administration, or local coordination. Others simply help people feel less alone.

Volunteering with GNRC does not require being an expert. Many people begin with small acts: helping during an online meeting, translating a short text, welcoming participants, sharing resources, or supporting a local initiative. Over time, these gestures become relationships, projects, and communities.

Our experiences show that volunteers often arrive carrying their own stories of faith, questions, wounds, hope, or reconciliation. They also bring culture, language, professional skills, and ways of seeing the world that enrich the whole network.

GNRC is a global network. This means we work across different countries, cultures, and realities. In some places people can speak openly. In others, LGBT+ persons still face fear, isolation, criminalization, or exclusion. Because of this, volunteering also means learning to listen carefully and walk together with respect.
