About Joy Ladin

Joy Ladin is a renowned poet, essayist, and scholar who has made significant contributions to the fields of literature and gender studies. In 2008, she became the first openly transgender professor at an Orthodox Jewish institution, marking a historic moment in academia. Her work often revisits the Torah through a transgender perspective, offering fresh insights into traditional narratives. Joy’s reflections challenge conventional boundaries, encouraging a deeper understanding of spirituality and inclusion. Her participation in this webinar promises to enrich our dialogue on the intersection of faith and gender.

About the project

The webinanr is part of the Project Cornerstone created to respond to the need to listen and welcome Christian LGBT+ people; is a path of training and ecumenical dialogue that aims to promote the welcome and inclusion of LGBT+ believers in communities of faith. The Global Network of Rainbow Catholics supports the project offering support, contacts, networking, visibility and implementation support.

The Cornerstone project is led by La Tenda di Gionata and co-funded by 8×1000 della Chiesa Valdese. The project is also supported by: the Faith, Gender and Sexuality Commission of the Baptist, Methodist and Waldensian churchesand from Italian Evangelical Youth Federation (FGEI) and by some Christian realities from different parts of the world: Drachma Malta, Global Network of Rainbow Catholics, China Catholic Rainbow Community (China) e Rainbow Home of Seven Sisters – RHOSS (India), Keshet Italia.
